Core Lithium Ltd-Mining Contract Award Strengthens Finniss Restart and Near-Term Production Outlook
Core Lithium Ltd (ASX: CXO) has taken a significant step toward restarting operations at its Finniss Lithium Project by awarding an AU$50 million surface mining contract to NRW Pty Ltd for the Grants open pit deposit. The contract enables immediate mobilisation, with mining and ore production scheduled to commence in May 2026, supporting a near-term production pathway. The Grant’s pit is expected to provide approximately 784 thousand tonnes of ore, translating into around 134 thousand tonnes of spodumene concentrate (SC5), leveraging existing infrastructure for a capital-efficient restart.
This development aligns with the company’s strategy to achieve early cash generation while advancing the BP33 underground project in parallel. Additionally, site works for BP33 have commenced, reinforcing a staged and lower-risk ramp-up profile. With first concentrate shipment targeted in the December quarter, the combined Grants and BP33 developments position Finniss as a cost-efficient and scalable lithium operation with strong production visibility.
