Viking Delivers High-Grade Tungsten Concentrate and Advances Low-Cost Development Pathway
Viking Mines Limited (ASX: VKA) has reported strong metallurgical testwork results from its Linka Project in Nevada, achieving a high-grade scheelite concentrate and validating a simplified processing pathway. Testwork delivered a 53-fold upgrade, producing a premium 63.6% WO3 concentrate from a 1.2% WO3 feed, positioning the product within the upper tier of global tungsten concentrates. Recovery rates included 42.4% into the premium concentrate and 46.0% into a saleable 56.4% WO3 product, with additional 37.8% recovery achieved through initial flotation testwork. The results support the development of a streamlined gravity-based flowsheet, reducing anticipated capital intensity and technical complexity while enabling a potential rapid-start production pathway. Ongoing testwork aims to further optimize recoveries, including flotation upgrades and recovery of fine scheelite fractions. With tungsten prices near record highs and global supply remaining constrained, the results strengthen the project’s development potential and positioning within the critical minerals market.
