Diatreme Resources Reports Positive Drilling Outcomes at Si2 and Casuarina Deposits
Diatreme Resources Limited (ASX: DRX) has announced encouraging results from drilling activities at its Si2 and Casuarina deposits, part of the Northern Silica Project in Far North Queensland. The 2025 drilling program, comprising 83 aircore holes over 2,035 meters, has helped to extend the Si2 deposit’s geological model and enhance the understanding of Casuarina’s potential.
The drilling at Si2 confirmed the continuity and thickness of dunes, validating the current geological interpretation. This will support the upcoming Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) update. Meanwhile, the initial drilling at Casuarina has provided valuable information about silica sand mineralization, enabling the company to start the process of estimating its maiden MRE. These findings are especially timely, given the rising demand for high-purity silica sand in specialized industries, including solar glass manufacturing.
Moving forward, Diatreme will focus on refining its geological models, conducting additional drilling to expand resource definitions, and progressing the MREs for both deposits. The proximity of these projects to the Cape Flattery Silica Mines underscores their strategic significance, especially in light of Australia's focus on critical minerals.
