S&P/ASX 200 Trading Lower By 0.16%; Tech Sector Extends Gain

On 21 July 2022, at AEST 12:02 PM, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 is trading lower today, declining 10.50 points or 0.16%, and is currently trading at 6,748.70 levels. Out of 11 sectors, 6 sectors are trading lower along with the S&P/ASX 200.

The Information Technology and Healthcare sectors are the top 2 gaining sectors, gaining 2.09% and 1.01% in their index values. On the other hand, the Energy and A-REIT sectors are the top 2 losing sectors, declining 2.23% and 0.97% in their index values.

Kelsian Group Limited (ASX: KLS) and Link Administration Holdings Limited (ASX: LNK) are the top gaining stocks, gaining 15.625% and 11.616% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Imugene Limited (ASX: IMU) and Woodside Energy Limited (ASX: WDS) are the top losing stocks and are declining 5.661% and 3.654% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

  • Kelsian Group’s shares jumped more than 15% following it announced that it doesn’t plan to make an offer for U.K. transport operator Go-Ahead Group.
  • Oil prices are falling for a second straight session as demand concerns outweighed tight global supply after U.S. government data showed tepid gasoline demand during the peak summer driving season.
  • Link Administration’s share price gaining following the company announced that it has agreed to a revised offer of $4.81 a share from suitor Dye & Durham.
  • Dow has closed down by 0.2%, S&P 500 up by 0.4%, and NASDAQ closed higher by 1.1%.
  • Hang Seng is down by 1.04%, and FTSE 100 is down by 0.44%.
