HMC Capital Secures Key Approvals to Advance Strategic Energy Partnership
HMC Capital (ASX: HMC) has reached a significant milestone after securing all required regulatory approvals for its strategic partnership with KKR, allowing the transaction to move toward financial completion. The agreement will see KKR invest up to AU$603 million into HMC’s energy platform, strengthening funding for future renewable energy and battery storage developments. Following completion, HMC’s capital commitment to the platform will decrease, while the company is expected to receive an establishment fee in FY26 along with recurring annual management income. As part of the next phase of growth, the energy platform will be rebranded as Illuma Energy, reflecting its expanding portfolio of renewable generation and storage assets. Backed by a substantial development pipeline, the platform is well positioned to accelerate battery energy storage projects and support Australia's transition to cleaner energy. The partnership also enhances HMC Capital’s long-term growth strategy by combining global investment expertise with opportunities in the rapidly expanding energy infrastructure sector.
