S&P/ASX 200 Trading Higher; Mesoblast and PointsBet Holdings Jump

On 01 July 2022, at AEST 11:58 AM, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 is trading higher today, gaining 35.00 points or 0.53%, and is currently trading at 6,603.10 levels. Out of 11 sectors, 9 sectors are trading higher along with the S&P/ASX 200.

The A-REIT and Industrials Services sectors are the top 2 gaining sectors, gaining 2.50% and 1.92% in their index values. On the other hand, Energy and Materials sectors are the top 2 losing sectors, declining 1.45% and 0.78% in their index values.

Mesoblast Limited (ASX: MSB) and PointsBet Holdings Limited (ASX: PBT) are the top gaining stocks, gaining 18.032% and 11.567% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Mineral Resources Limited (ASX: MIN) and Woodside Energy Group Ltd (ASX: WDS) are the top losing stocks and are declining 2.569% and 2.387% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

• All three major US stock indexes finished the month and the second quarter in negative territory, with the S&P 500 notching its steepest first-half percentage drop since 1970. The Nasdaq had its largest-ever January-June percentage drop, while the Dow suffered its biggest first-half percentage plunge since 1962.
• Regis Resources jumped 7.7% to $1.40. Street Talk reported that Andrew Forrest’s Wyloo had walked away from plans to significantly increase its stake in the gold miner.
• The major miners fell after a further decline in iron ore prices. BHP shed 1.84% to $40.49, Rio Tinto dropping 1.07% to $101.60 and Fortescue declining 0.96% to $17.36.
• Dow has closed down by 0.5%, S&P 500 down by 0.4%, and NASDAQ closed lower by 0.7%.
• Hang Seng is down by 0.62%, and FTSE 100 is down by 1.96%.
