Progress Update on Metallurgical Testing at Kookynie Tailings
Nex Metals Explorations Ltd (ASX: NME) has advanced metallurgical testing at its Kookynie Tailings Project, moving closer to establishing a viable gold recovery pathway. The work is being carried out in partnership with Wangkatja Tjungukla Aboriginal Corporation and aims to refine processing methods, confirm gold content, and detect any associated minerals or contaminants. Representative samples from key tailings areas have been sent for laboratory evaluation to determine the most efficient treatment approach.
The testing program includes assessing particle size distribution, evaluating grinding requirements, applying gravity-based separation techniques, and testing cyanidation for final gold extraction. Initial observations indicate that existing equipment may support a low-cost development strategy without heavy capital investment or reliance on third-party facilities. The findings are expected to shape the upcoming drilling program and broader development plans, with the overall test work timeline targeted for completion by October 2026.
