Aug 09, 2022

National Australia Bank (ASX: NAB) has released its Q3 FY2022 results and reported its unaudited statutory NPAT of AU$1.85 billion and unaudited cash earnings of AU$1.80 billion.

The Company s performance was driven by its ongoing execution of its strategy comprising conclusion of the acquisition of Citigroup s Australian consumer business. The cash earnings increased 3% compared with 1H FY2022 quarterly average. The lending and deposit momentum continued (up 2% and 4% respectively over the June quarter excluding the Citi acquisition).

The cash earnings before tax and credit impairment charges grew 2% compared with the 1H 2022 quarterly average. Key drivers were:

  • Growth in revenue by 2% with higher volumes partly counterbalance by lower Markets & Treasury income.
  • Net interest margin was slightly lower.
  • Expenses improved 1% with added FTE to support growth along with higher personnel and leave costs, partly counterbalance by productivity.
