Infinity Mining Advances Copper Recovery Opportunity at Historic Cangai Site
Infinity Mining Limited (ASX: IMI) has reported highly encouraging laboratory metallurgical test results from its historic Cangai copper project in New South Wales, demonstrating copper recovery of approximately 100% from historical smelter waste using technology developed by joint venture partner Orivium. The tests, completed within days under laboratory conditions, indicate strong potential to recover valuable copper that remained trapped in century-old stockpiles due to inefficient smelting practices used between 1904 and 1916. The company believes these historical tailings could represent a significant value opportunity if commercial extraction proves viable.
Following the successful testing program, Infinity and Orivium are progressing the design, permitting and planning of a processing plant capable of treating both mining residues and e-waste. Additional work is underway to secure third-party feedstock while further metallurgical testing continues for other base and precious metals contained within the stockpiles. Although the results remain at laboratory scale and require further engineering and economic studies before commercial development, the company views the outcome as an important milestone toward unlocking the long-term value of its Cangai project.
