Woolworths Group Strengthens Board with Digital Leadership Appointment
Woolworths Group (ASX: WOW) has announced changes to its Board aimed at strengthening its digital and technology expertise. Jon Alferness will join the Board as a non-executive director effective 1 March 2026, subject to regulatory approvals, while existing director Tracey Fellows will retire on the same date. Alferness brings more than two decades of global experience across technology, product development, and retail, with senior leadership roles at Walmart, Google, and Lyft. Most recently, he held the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer at Walmart US, overseeing key areas including eCommerce, digital platforms, financial services, and last-mile delivery, while embedding advanced digital solutions across core retail operations. His earlier tenure at Google included a key role in expanding Google Ads across multiple platforms. The Chair highlighted that Alferness’ deep expertise in digital, media, and eCommerce will support Woolworths’ strategic priorities amid rapid industry change. Fellows was acknowledged for her valuable contributions, particularly in digital and member platforms, during her tenure
