The Star Entertainment Group Completes Disposal of Brisbane Assets
The Star Entertainment Group (ASX: SGR) has completed the first stage of its transaction involving the sale of its interest in the Destination Brisbane Consortium (DBC), marking a significant step in its strategic realignment. This move, finalized on 1 April 2026, involves the disposal of the Queen's Wharf Brisbane Integrated Resort and other associated assets. Under the revised agreement, The Star will no longer receive an operator fee but instead a fixed annual fee of AU$18 million, supplemented by a performance-based incentive. The new arrangement includes a performance termination right, allowing DBC to terminate the agreement based on performance criteria. Additionally, the completion of Stage 1 satisfies a condition for the release of The Star's guarantee under the Queen's Wharf debt facilities. Stage 2, involving further assets, is expected to complete by 31 March 2027, contingent on meeting regulatory and financing conditions.
