Neurizon Expands HEALEY ALS Trial to Strengthen NUZ-001 Development
Neurizon Therapeutics Limited (ASX: NUZ) has expanded Regimen I of the HEALEY ALS Platform Trial from 160 to 240 participants, aiming to generate a larger and more statistically robust dataset for its lead drug candidate, NUZ-001. The increase follows stronger-than-expected enrolment and the absence of a concurrent regimen during the recruitment period. The revised study design is expected to improve subgroup and biomarker analysis while maintaining the original statistical assumptions for the primary endpoint.
The company now anticipates last participant dosing in Q2 CY2027, with topline results expected in early Q3 CY2027, ahead of previous expectations. Neurizon stated that additional trial costs are expected to remain largely offset through philanthropic funding support from the Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS at Mass General Brigham and disciplined cost management. As of 22 May 2026, 113 participants had been assigned to the trial, with 74 already dosed across 64 activated US clinical sites.
