IperionX Titanium Fasteners Surpass High-Strength Steel Benchmarks in U.S. Army Testing
IperionX Limited (ASX: IPX) has reported positive independent testing results showing that its titanium fasteners outperformed conventional Grade 8 steel fasteners in key mechanical performance measures. Testing conducted by the U.S. Army DEVCOM Ground Vehicle Systems Center and Westmoreland Mechanical Testing & Research validated the strength and reliability of IperionX’s Ti-6Al-4V titanium fasteners. The company’s 3/4-10 titanium fasteners achieved yield torque levels of 563–615 ft-lbf, compared to 480–502 ft-lbf for Grade 8 steel equivalents, representing a significant performance advantage. Independent tensile testing also confirmed yield strength of 135–137 ksi and ultimate tensile strength of 149–152 ksi, exceeding standard aerospace-grade titanium benchmarks. These results demonstrate that IperionX’s fasteners can deliver steel-like strength while offering titanium’s benefits of lower weight and superior corrosion resistance. The successful validation supports the company’s strategy to establish a secure, fully domestic U.S. titanium supply chain serving defence, aerospace, marine, and advanced industrial markets.
