Aura Energys Haggan Deposit Gains Strategic Recognition as National Interest in Sweden
Aura Energy Limited (ASX: AEE) announced that the Geological Survey of Sweden has proposed designating its Häggån polymetallic deposit as a national interest for valuable materials, marking a significant strategic milestone. The designation, if finalized, would provide legal protection against competing land uses that could hinder future extraction, strengthening the long-term development outlook for the project. Häggån is positioned as a critical asset within Europe’s energy transition, given its combination of uranium, supporting nuclear energy, and vanadium, essential for energy storage and industrial applications. The proposal is currently subject to a stakeholder consultation process running until early June 2026, after which a final decision will be made. The recognition highlights the growing importance of secure domestic supply chains for critical minerals and reinforces the project’s potential role in supporting Europe’s clean energy and industrial strategies.
