ASX Group Reports Strong Trading Activity in February 2026
ASX Limited (ASX: ASX) released its monthly activity report for February 2026, outlining developments across listings, trading, derivatives, clearing, and settlement operations. During the month, total new capital quoted reached AU$4.1 billion, significantly lower than the previous corresponding period, while net new capital quoted stood at AU$2.6 billion. However, on a financial year-to-date basis, net new capital quoted increased to AU$31.3 billion, indicating stronger capital market activity compared with the prior year.
Cash market trading demonstrated notable momentum, with the average daily number of trades increasing by 48% year-on-year. The average daily on-market value traded reached AU$8.395 billion, reflecting a 22% rise from the previous year. Derivatives markets also recorded moderate growth, with average daily futures volumes rising by 3% and options on futures trading increasing significantly.
Meanwhile, settlement and clearing activity remained stable, supported by higher securities holdings within CHESS and Austraclear systems, highlighting continued operational strength across ASX’s market infrastructure.
