Star Minerals Advances Toward Gold Production While Expanding Exploration Portfolio
Star Minerals Limited (ASX: SMS) made notable progress during the quarter ended 30 June 2026 as it continued transforming from a gold explorer into a producer. Mining activities at the Tumblegum South Gold Project advanced with site mobilisation completed, blast hole drilling underway, and the first mineralised ore successfully mined and stockpiled ahead of processing. Recent drilling also returned encouraging high-grade gold intersections, reinforcing confidence in the project's resource potential. Alongside production progress, the company broadened its exploration portfolio by securing the 219-square-kilometre Merredin Gold Project in Western Australia through low-cost tenement applications. Management plans to begin target generation, historical data assessment and land access activities at the new asset. Financially, Star Minerals finished the quarter with cash holdings of approximately AU$2.10 million, providing funding for ongoing development and exploration initiatives as it works toward its first gold production while building a broader pipeline of Australian gold assets.
