S&P/ASX 200 Trading Lower; 9 Out of 11 Sectors Are Trading Lower

On 11 July 2022, at AEST 11:55 AM, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 is trading lower today, declining 35.70 points or 0.53%, and is currently trading at 6,642.30 levels. Out of 11 sectors, 9 sectors are trading lower along with the S&P/ASX 200.

The Energy and Financial sectors are the top 2 gaining sectors, gaining 0.62% and 0.35% in their index values. On the other hand, the Materials and Information Technology sectors are the top 2 losing sectors, declining 1.95% and 1.55% in their index values.

Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (ASX: URW) and Paladin Energy Limited (ASX: PDN) are the top gaining stocks, gaining 2.479% and 2.419% in their stock prices. On the other hand, EML Payments Limited (ASX: EML) and Costa Group Holdings Limited (ASX: CGC) are the top losing stocks and are declining 20.118% and 11.806% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

• EML Payment Limited’s share price dropped sharply after the company announced the surprise resignation of chief executive Tom Cregan.
• Shares in Wall Street closed mixed after the June jobs data confirmed that the Federal Reserve has room to raise interest rates at its next policy meeting later this month.
• Investors are braced for a U.S. inflation report that could force another super-sized hike in interest rates and the start of an earnings season where profits could be under pressure.
• Dow has closed down by 0.1%, S&P 500 down by 0.1%, and NASDAQ closed higher by 0.1%.

Hang Seng is down by 1.71%, and FTSE 100 is up by 0.10%.
