MRG Metals Confirms High-Grade Rare Earth Intercepts at Garies Project
MRG Metals Limited (ASX: MRQ) has reported strong drilling results from its Garies Rare Earth Project in South Africa, confirming the continuity of monazite-hosted rare earth mineralisation at the DrillTarg target.
The initial reverse circulation drilling program consisted of 61 holes totaling 2,482 metres, targeting the DrillTarg and Ryshoek prospects. At DrillTarg, 19 drill holes intersected rare earth mineralisation within magnetite veins, highlighting the project’s potential.
Drilling returned a top intercept of 6.6 metres at 4.49% TREO from 34 metres depth. Additional notable intersections included 5.45 metres at 3.39% TREO, 6.0 metres at 3.35% TREO, and 5.8 metres at 3.34% TREO.
The mineralisation is hosted in monazite, which contains approximately 60% TREO, with key magnet rare earth elements such as neodymium, praseodymium, terbium, and dysprosium representing around 26% of the total rare earth content. Drilling indicates that mineralisation remains open both along strike and at depth.
The DrillTarg area is one of 23 identified rare earth targets within the company’s 275 square kilometre Garies tenement, suggesting significant exploration upside. Metallurgical testing and a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate are in progress, while the company is also advancing preparations for a mining licence application.
