S&P/ASX 200 Trading Higher By 0.76%; Paladin and Insignia Are Top Gainers

On 25 August 2022, at AEST 12:25 PM, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 is trading higher today, gaining 53.20 points or 0.76%, and is currently trading at 7,051.30 levels. Out of 11 sectors, 9 sectors are trading higher along with the S&P/ASX 200.

The Energy and A-REIT sectors are the top 2 gaining sectors, gaining 1.95% and 1.75% in their index values. On the other hand, Consumer Staples and Utilities sectors are the top 2 losing sectors, declining 1.66% and 0.40% in their index values.

Paladin Energy Limited (ASX: PDN) and Insignia Financial Limited (ASX: IFL) are the top gaining stocks, gaining 11.564% and 9.621% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Kelsian Group Limited (ASX: KLS) and Perpetual Limited (ASX: PPT) are the top losing stocks and are declining 11.321% and 7.921% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

• The Australian share market is trading in the green. At the same time, the dollar was slightly weaker today, with investors nervously awaiting the U.S. Federal Reserve's annual Jackson Hole conference for clues on how sharp future interest rate hikes might be.
• Perpetual Limited's share price dropped sharply after the company announced to buy Pendal Group Limited.
• Oil prices are gaining today after Saudi Arabia suggested the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries could consider cutting output, though bearish economic signals from central bankers and falling equities weighed.
• Dow has closed up 0.1%, S&P 500 up by 0.2%, and NASDAQ closed higher by 0.5%.
• FTSE 100 is down by 0.22%.
