Macquarie Group announced the 3QFY23 trading update

Macquarie Group Limited (ASX: MQG) provided an update on company operations in the third quarter of the fiscal year ending 31 March 2023 today (3QFY23):

1. Net profit after tax for the nine months to 31 December 2022 marginally up as compared to the nine months to 31 December 2021.
2. Macquarie's markets-facing businesses' combined 3QFY23 net profit contribution considerably up on prior corresponding period mainly due to the CGM result for 3QFY23, which was substantially up on 1HFY23 ended 30 September 2022 driven by commodities including gas and power contributions across all regions partially offset by a lower level of realisations and lower fee and commission income in Macquarie Capital.
3. Macquarie Group’s financial position easily exceeds APRA’s Basel III regulatory requirements, with a Group capital surplus of AU$12.5 billion at 31 December 2022, up from AU$12.2 billion at 30 September 2022.
4. The company’s Leverage ratio 5.2% (Harmonized: 5.9%), LCR 203%, NSFR 117%, and Bank CET1 ratio 13.3% (Harmonized: 16.9%)
