Galan Completes HMW Commissioning and Produces First Processed Lithium Brine in Argentina
Galan Lithium Limited (ASX: GLN) has achieved a major operational milestone after successfully completing wet plant commissioning and producing its first processed lithium chloride (LiCl) at the Hombre Muerto West (HMW) Project in Argentina. The processed brine has now been discharged into the final evaporation ponds, marking the transition of HMW into the optimisation and production ramp-up phase.
The Company confirmed that impurity rejection from the nanofiltration plant has met design specifications, supporting plans to produce lithium chloride concentrate and commence product sales during H2 2026. Galan also reported a substantial brine inventory of approximately 10,000 tonnes LCE in evaporation ponds, providing immediate feedstock to support sustained ramp-up toward the initial Phase 1 production capacity of 4ktpa LCE.
Expansion activities are also advancing, with construction works for the planned uplift from 4ktpa to 5.2ktpa LCE expected to commence shortly ahead of targeted completion in H1 2027. Galan highlighted that HMW remains one of the few greenfield lithium projects globally expected to enter production in 2026, with long-term staged expansion potential of up to 60ktpa LCE supported by its globally significant lithium resource base.
