Middle Island Resources Limited (ASX: MDI) has reported highly encouraging assay results from its maiden reverse circulation drilling program at the Bobija Project in Serbia, confirming extensive gold, silver and base metal mineralisation across the mine area. Drilling intersected broad, consistent mineralised intervals in every hole, demonstrating a continuous zone spanning roughly 300m by 300m, significantly beyond previously defined limits. Notably, drilling successfully mineralised areas earlier interpreted as barren, including a thick zone intersected in BMLRC001, materially expanding the perceived footprint of the deposit.
Results also reinforce a strong association between gold and silver with lead, zinc and copper mineralisation, which had historically been underexplored due to a focus on base metals alone. With mineralisation remaining open in multiple directions and continuity now clearly established, the outcomes strongly validate the geological model. The Company is progressing plans for a follow-up Phase 2 drilling program to further delineate and expand this emerging multi-metal system.
