X2M Targets South Korea’s Smart Water Market with AI-Enabled Meter Launch
X2M Connect Limited (ASX: X2M) has launched South Korea’s first AI-enabled integrated smart water meter after securing a manufacturing licence for the product. The solution was developed in collaboration with one of South Korea’s largest water managers to improve connectivity issues and reduce the cost of digitising water infrastructure. The company stated that the integrated meter is designed to maintain communication even in flooded underground conditions, a long-standing issue for traditional systems.
The smart meter combines water monitoring and communications technology into a single separable unit, enabling real-time leak detection, flood monitoring, temperature sensing, and AI-driven water management. X2M believes the product offers a significant competitive advantage, particularly as South Korea replaces approximately one million water meters annually under mandated upgrade cycles.
The company estimates the total addressable market at more than $1.3 billion, alongside potential recurring annual SaaS revenue of roughly $52 million through platform connectivity fees. X2M also secured two years of direct procurement access through South Korea’s Public Procurement System, allowing municipalities to purchase the meters without a tender process.
