Vulcan Energy: Strong Progress in Lionheart Field Development
Vulcan Energy (ASX: VUL) has reported successful production test results from its LSC-1b sidetrack well, part of the Phase One Lionheart Project in Germany's Upper Rhine Valley. The results confirm strong well deliverability with flow rates ranging from 105 to 125 liters per second (l/s), supporting the project's Field Development Plan (FDP). Vulcan's innovative approach combines lithium production with renewable energy, aiming for a 24,000-tonne lithium hydroxide monohydrate capacity annually, co-producing 275 GWh of power and 560 GWh of heat. The Phase One project is fully funded, with construction underway following successful financing in December 2025. Vulcan expects to begin commercial lithium production by 2028, offering a low-cost, sustainable source of lithium for Europe's electric vehicle market. The well testing also reduced uncertainties regarding reservoir deliverability, de-risking the project's future development.
