Antilles Gold Limited (ASX: AAU) advises that its 50%-owned Cuban joint venture, Minera La Victoria S.A. (MLV), was designated as a Specially Designated National (SDN) by the U.S. Treasury Departmentâs Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on 4 June 2026. The designation restricts U.S. entities from transacting with MLV and may expose other parties to secondary sanctions. MLVâs mining project, Nueva Sabana, is in early construction and not yet generating revenue.
Antilles Goldâs subsidiary, Antilles Gold Inc., has temporarily suspended its direct involvement in MLVâs administration, management, and funding, with Gold Caribbean Mining S.A. assuming operational responsibilities. The Company is assessing administrative remedies, including potential reconsideration of the designation, while evaluating impacts on project development, financing, governance, and strategic plans. A New York-based law firm has been engaged to advise on U.S. sanctions compliance. Due to uncertainties, the Company has requested ASX suspend trading in AAU shares and AAUO options
