Can Viking Mines Deliver a Strategic US Tungsten Supply Opportunity as Recoveries Continue to Improve?
Viking Mines Limited (ASX: VKA) has reported a significant breakthrough in metallurgical testwork at its Linka Tungsten Project in Nevada, with combined gravity and cleaner flotation processing delivering a 56.9% WO₃ concentrate grade at 76.0% recovery from a 1.2% WO₃ feed grade. The result exceeds the Company’s previously stated target of achieving greater than 70% recovery at more than 50% WO₃ concentrate grade and represents a substantial improvement from the 59.8% recovery announced less than two weeks earlier. The enhanced recovery was achieved through optimisation of the flotation circuit, while maintaining a premium concentrate grade suitable for commercial sale. Viking believes the results further validate a simple, gravity-led, low-CAPEX processing pathway that could support future project development. Ongoing metallurgical work is targeting recoveries above 80%, while the findings will feed directly into a conceptual processing study and support the maiden drilling program scheduled to commence later this month.
