Sayona Mining Limited (ASX: SYA) is fastâ€tracking plans to move downstream in Québec, with the launch of a preâ€feasibility study by Sayona Québec (SYA 75%; Piedmont Lithium Inc 25%), to consider the possible for production of Li2CO3 at the North American Lithium operation.
The preâ€feasibility study (PFS) will inspect the possibility of producing lithium carbonate from spodumene produced at North American lithium, where production of spodumene concentrate is planned to begin from Q1 2023. The potential move downstream is an important possible valueâ€adding boost in improving the longâ€term value as well as profitability of the North American Lithium operation.
It also forms portion of the Company’s and Piedmont’s promises to Investissment Québec plus the Québec Government in North American Lithium’s acquisition, making a substantial role to the province’s electrification drive.
Major engineering firm Hatch will commence the lithium carbonate PFS, aiming conclusion by March 2023.
