S&P/ASX 200 Sharply Lower By 1.41%; Led By IT Sector

On 09 May 2022, at AEST 12:01 PM, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 is trading lower today, declining 101.60 points or 1.41%, and is currently trading at 7104.00 levels. 10 out of 11 sectors are trading lower along with the S&P/ASX 200. The Information Technology and A-REIT sectors are the top 2 losing sectors, declining 3.397% and 3.13% in their index value. The Healthcare sector is the only gaining sector, gaining 0.396% in its index value.

Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Limited (ASX: DMP) and Westpac Banking Corporation (ASX: WBC) are the top gaining stocks, gaining 3.062% and 2.811% in their stock prices. News Corporation. (ASX: NWS) and Novonix Limited (ASX: NVX) are the top losing stocks and are declining 10.207% and 9.720% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

• Brent crude is down by 0.87% as investors are waiting for the talks at the European Union on a Russian oil embargo that is expected to tighten global supplies.
• Westpac’s share price climbed more than 2% after it reported a $3.1billion cash profit for the first half, more than expected.
• Dow has closed down by 0.3%, S&P 500 declined by 0.6%, and NASDAQ closed down by 1.4%.
• Hang Seng is down by 3.81%, and FTSE 100 is down by 1.54%.
