The Reserve Bank has announced that it is work together with the Digital Finance Cooperative Research Centre (DFCRC) on a research project to discover use cases for a central bank digital currency (CBDC) in Australia.
Substantial research has been commenced by central banks, along with the Reserve Bank, into the possibility as well as probable technical design of CBDC, especially exploring the possible use of new technologies like distributed ledger technology.
