Qantas Airways Limited (ASX: QAN) has reached an agreement to settle the class action filed against the airline in August 2023 regarding flight credits issued during the Covid pandemic. The AU$105 million settlement is currently awaiting approval from the Federal Court of Australia. The lawsuit stemmed from flights cancelled between January 2020 and November 2022, alleging breaches of contractual obligations related to refunds. As part of the settlement, Qantas has removed the expiry date for Covid-related travel credits, allowing customers to request refunds indefinitely. The company has already made provisions for this settlement, and the related increase will be reflected in its second-half FY26 results. The settlement amount will be paid through a Court-approved administrator, with the expected payout in the first half of FY27.
