NBN has increased the price of its broadband plans

Dec 09, 2022

The ACCC’s latest Communications Market Report shows that the NBN increased the price of its home broadband services for consumers in 2021-2022 while the standard of services remained the same.

Now consumers have to pay 3.6% more for the entry-level NBN plan in which they will get a speed of 12mbps. For a middle-range NBN plan, consumers need to pay 4.7% more in which they get a speed of 50mbps and for a high (100 Mbps) very high (more than 100 Mbps) speed NBN plan, consumers need to pay 9% more.

“More than eight million households and small businesses rely on the NBN for their internet, so the trade-off between the price and service quality of NBN plans affects most Australians”, ACCC Commissioner Anna Brakey said.

NBN has maximum demand for its middle-range plan, around 62%. Demand for 100-speed increased, but there is a reduction in service for entry-level and very high-speed plans.
