Lodestar Identifies Significant Heavy Rare Earth Opportunity at Virgin Mountain.
Lodestar Minerals Limited (ASX: LSR) has reported encouraging results from its Virgin Mountain Project in Arizona, confirming the presence of valuable heavy rare earth elements (HREEs). The study identified xenotime as the primary mineral hosting these elements, particularly dysprosium, terbium, and lutetium, which are widely used in advanced energy and defence applications. This finding is important as xenotime is known for its relatively straightforward processing, improving the project’s commercial prospects. Sampling results showed strong rare earth grades with a high proportion of heavy elements, suggesting a potentially high-value resource. The mineralisation is associated with a large geological structure extending around five kilometres, indicating scope for further discoveries. While the current work is at an early stage, the results support the project’s strategic relevance, especially in strengthening domestic supply chains. The company plans further exploration activities to evaluate the size, consistency, and economic potential of the deposit.
