ABS released retail sales data for May 2022

Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has released retail sales data for May 2022. In May 2022, Australian retail turnover increased 0.9%. The increase during the month was the 5th consecutive monthly increase in retail turnover subsequent rises of 0.9% in April 2022, 1.6% in March 2022, 1.8% in February 2022 and 1.6% in January 2022.

Department stores grew 5.1%, cafes, restaurants, and takeaway food services by 1.8%, other retailing by 1.5%, food retailing by 0.6% and household goods retailing by 0.4%.

On the other hand, clothing, footwear, and personal accessory retailing slipped 1.4% following three consecutive monthly growths.
