Viking Mines Strategic Expansion into U.S. Tungsten
Viking Mines Limited (ASX: VKA) has entered into a binding agreement to acquire 100% of a high-grade, production-proven tungsten portfolio comprising six projects in Nevada, USA. The flagship Linka Project anchors the portfolio, hosting three historical mines over an ~820m mineralised strike length and supported by past production through a 360tpd mill, which delivered grades of up to 3.0% WO₃. Across the portfolio, historical production totals approximately 123,000 tonnes at an average grade of 0.54% WO₃, complemented by strong historical sampling and drilling results that highlight significant exploration upside.
The acquisition aligns with rising geopolitical urgency around tungsten, a critical mineral dominated by Chinese supply, and coincides with record tungsten prices in 2025. Strategic backing from American Tungsten Corp, including an AU$750,000 investment, further strengthens Viking’s U.S. growth strategy. Overall, the transaction positions Viking to advance a potentially strategic domestic tungsten supply platform in a Tier-1 jurisdiction.
