Viking Mines Identifies Priority Targets at Linka Tungsten Project
Viking Mines Limited (ASX: VKA) has identified multiple high-priority exploration targets at the Linka Tungsten Project following completion of high-resolution gravity and magnetic surveys.
The gravity survey successfully detected anomalies directly above known tungsten mineralisation at the Linka and Conquest prospects, confirming the effectiveness of the exploration methodology. The survey leveraged the density contrast between scheelite-bearing garnetite mineralisation and surrounding host rocks to highlight potential mineralised zones.
Several additional gravity highs were identified across the broader survey area, establishing new targets for field evaluation and ranking. Meanwhile, magnetic data outlined a large regional intrusive unit interpreted to be associated with tungsten mineralisation, along with northeast-trending structural features that cut through the intrusion.
Integration of gravity and magnetic results also helped map geological contacts along an approximately 820-metre mineralised corridor and interpret continuation of the system beneath younger volcanic cover to the southwest. The exploration work comes amid strong tungsten market conditions, with prices recently reaching around US$1,800 per metric tonne unit of ammonium paratungstate.
