S&P/ASX 200 Up Marginally; Led By The Information Technology Sector

On 05 May 2022, at AEST 12:04 PM, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 is trading higher today, gaining 45.50 points or 0.62%, and is currently trading at 7350.20 levels. 10 out of 11 sectors are trading in the green zone along with the S&P/ASX 200. The Information Technology and Materials sectors are the top 2 gaining sectors, gaining 2.02% and 1.61% in their index value. On the other hand, the Financials is the only losing sector and declining 0.34% in its index value.

Imugene Limited (ASX: IMU) and Chalice Mining Limited (ASX: CHN) are the top gaining stocks, gaining 7.352% and 6.314% in their stock prices. Janus Henderson Group PLC (ASX: JHG) and Australia And New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ASX: ANZ) are the top losing stocks and are declining 14.901% and 1.790% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

• Australian shares opened higher after Wall Street recorded its best day in two years following Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said that US Central Bank was not actively considering a 75 basis points increase anytime soon.
• AUD/USD is trading 0.23% lower.
• Dow has closed up by 2.8%, S&P 500 up by 3.0%, and NASDAQ closed up by 3.2%.
• Hang Seng is up by 1.07%, and FTSE 100 is down by 0.90%.
