Charger Metals Regains Full Ownership of Lake Johnston Lithium & Gold Project After RTX Exit.

Charger Metals (ASX: CHR) has regained 100% ownership of the Lake Johnston Lithium and Gold Project after Rio Tinto Exploration exited the farm-in agreement. Over two years, RTX contributed AU$4.2 million in exploration funding, invested AU$1.2 million into Charger’s equity, and made AU$1 million in cash payments. With full control restored, Charger now advances exploration across Medcalf, Medcalf West, and Mt Gordon, including the 8.2Mt at 1.0% Li₂O Medcalf Maiden Resource and the 3–5Mt at 1.0%–1.4% Li₂O Medcalf West Exploration Target.

Recent drilling at the Whitten prospect delivered encouraging lithium intersections, and results for more than 3,000m of drilling are still pending. A major RC and diamond drill program is planned for January 2026 to test potential extensions and expand near-surface spodumene mineralisation. The project remains strategically positioned with strong infrastructure and proximity to established lithium processing hubs.
