ACCC commenced proceedings against Bloomex for misleading star ratings and price representation

The ACCC started proceedings against Bloomex in the Federal Court for supposedly publishing misleading online star ratings as well as price representations. 

Bloomex is an online florist & gift retailer. It receives order from the clients via call or website and deliver the order across Australia.

ACCC said that since 2019, Bloomex presented products on website with a star rating out of 5 along with a declaration that the rating was as per the customer reviews. As per ACCC, these ratings were misleading and no customer feedback was incorporated along with these ratings since 2015.

Other than this ACCC alleged Bloomex for misleading price representations on its website. ACCC also said that since August 2022, Bloomex did not satisfactorily reveal that it imposed a compulsory surcharge in the range of AU$1.95 to AU$4.95 on orders made through its website.
