S&P/ASX 200 Trading Lower By 0.21%; Dragged Down By Healthcare and A-REIT Sectors

On 28 September 2022, at AEST 11:45 AM, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 is trading lower today, declining 13.90 points or 0.21%, and is currently trading at 6,482.30 levels. Out of 11 sectors, 6 sectors are trading lower along with the S&P/ASX 200.

The Energy and Utilities sectors are the top 2 gaining sectors, gaining 2.73% and 1.67% in their index values. On the other hand, Healthcare and A-REIT sectors are the top 2 losing sectors, declining 0.79% and 0.79% in their index values.

New Hope Corporation Limited (ASX: NHC) and Whitehaven Coal Limited (ASX: WHC) are the top gaining stocks, gaining 7.329% and 7.100% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Telix Pharmaceuticals Limited (ASX: TLX) and Core Lithium Ltd (ASX: CXO) are the top losing stocks and are declining 13.637% and 4.202% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

• Telix Pharmaceuticals’ share price dropped sharply following the oncology business announced a setback in Europe. It withdrew its application for marketing authorisation for Illuccix in Europe in what it describes as an “unexpected” and “extremely disappointing” result.
• Shares in the Energy sector are gaining: Whitehaven Coal, New Hope Corporation, Beach Energy, and Worley led the gains, along with Coronado Global Resources and Ramelius Resources Limited.
• Oil prices gained today as fears of slowing short-term demand offset a potential supply shortage stemming from OPEC production cuts and a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico.
• Dow has closed down 0.4%, S&P 500 down by 0.2%, and NASDAQ closed higher by 0.3%.
• Hang Seng is down by 0.88%, and FTSE 100 is down by 0.52%.
