Lynas Rare confirms the renewal of the operating license for Lynas Malaysia

On 14th February, 2023, Lynas Rare Earths Ltd (ASX: LYC) confirmed that its subsidiary Lynas Malaysia received a notification from the Department of Atomic Energy that the Atomic Energy Licensing Board has agreed to renew the operating license for Lynas Malaysia starting from 03 March, 2023, for a 3-year term. The license has been renewed with no changes to the conditions that were applied to the license issued in March 2020.

Lynas had applied for the removal of these conditions, as they represent a significant deviation from the conditions under which previous licenses were issued and the initial investment in Malaysia was made. The conditions do not align with the recommendations of the 2018 Executive Review Committee report on Lynas Malaysia's operations.
