Lithium Universe Advances Second U.S. Lithium Refinery Strategy with Brownsville Site Assessment
Lithium Universe Limited (ASX: LU7) has completed a detailed site visit to assess the potential for its second lithium refinery at Brownsville, Texas, marking a significant step in its strategy to build a binational refining platform across North America. The Brownsville site offers ideal land configuration, logistics strength, and the potential for long-term expansion, aligning well with the company’s broader lithium-refining strategy. The refinery will replicate the proven Bécancour model, allowing for faster deployment, reduced costs, and operational risk. In addition, the site offers access to deep-water ports and multimodal transport, critical for sourcing spodumene concentrate and distributing battery-grade lithium carbonate to U.S. and Mexican gigafactories. With strong alignment to U.S. federal critical-minerals policies and incentives, this project complements the Bécancour initiative, strengthening Lithium Universe’s position in the emerging North American lithium market and enhancing supply chain resilience for the electric vehicle and clean-energy sectors.
