IPD Group Strengthens Mining Exposure Through Strategic Acquisition
IPD Group Limited (ASX: IPG) has entered into a binding agreement to acquire Platinum Cables Pty Ltd, a specialist provider of high-performance cable solutions to Australia’s mining and resources sector. The transaction involves upfront consideration of AU$37.5 million, with additional earn-out payments linked to earnings growth through December 2026. Platinum Cables delivers strong financial performance, with FY25 revenue of AU$44.8 million and EBIT margins above 16%, underpinned by consistent growth over recent years.
The acquisition is expected to be immediately earnings accretive, lifting IPD’s pro forma FY25 EPS by around 11.5% and enhancing group margins, while maintaining a conservative balance sheet with leverage below 1x EBITDA. Strategically, Platinum’s specialised and complementary product range deepens IPD’s presence in the mining sector, creates cross-selling opportunities, and adds technical capability aligned with electrification and infrastructure investment themes. Management continuity supports execution and integration discipline.
