IPD Group Expands Mining Exposure Through Platinum Cables Acquisition
IPD Group Limited (ASX: IPG) has signed a definitive agreement to purchase Platinum Cables Pty Ltd, an Australian manufacturer of specialised cable solutions serving the mining and resources industry, for an upfront enterprise value of AU$37.5 million. The acquisition price implies an FY25 EBIT multiple of roughly 5.2 times, with a further earn-out of up to AU$7.5 million payable subject to earnings expansion through December 2026.
The transaction will be funded mainly through existing cash reserves and enlarged banking facilities, with completion expected by 31 December 2025. On a pro forma basis, the acquisition is forecast to be immediately earnings accretive, lifting FY25 EPS by approximately 11.5% and expanding group EBIT margins to around 11.6%, while balance sheet gearing remains moderate at close to 0.9 times gross debt to EBITDA. Strategically, the deal strengthens IPD’s exposure to the mining sector by adding differentiated, complementary products and deep technical capability, enabling cross-selling opportunities and long-term growth with negligible dilution to shareholders.
