Amplitude Energy: Isabella Gas Discovery Deemed Non-Commercial
Amplitude Energy Limited (ASX: AEL) provided an update on its Isabella gas prospect in the Offshore Otway Basin, located in permit VIC/L24, where it holds a 50% operating interest alongside O.G. Energy. The Isabella sidetrack well (ST-1), drilled from the Elanora-1 well, successfully encountered gas in the Waarre C reservoir during early March 2026.
Following wireline testing, casing, and a flow test conducted between 8–21 March, the results indicated pressure depletion, confirming that the field is not commercially viable at its current location. As a result, the company plans to seal and discontinue the well, while keeping overall spending within the allocated budget.
Despite this outcome, the East Coast Supply Project (ECSP) remains unchanged. Further drilling is planned for the second half of CY2026, and the company continues to target first gas production from CY2028. Amplitude Energy will use the data gathered from Isabella and Elanora wells to refine its future exploration strategy.
