S&P/ASX 200 Trading Lower; Dragged Down By Healthcare and IT Sectors

On 15 June 2022, at AEST 12:12 PM, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 is trading lower today, declining 23.30 points or 0.35%, and is currently trading at 6,662.70 levels. Out of 11 sectors, 7 sectors are trading lower along with the S&P/ASX 200.

The Consumer Staples and Financials sectors are the top 2 gaining sectors, gaining 0.793% and 0.225% in their index values. On the other hand, the Healthcare and Information Technology sectors are the top 2 losing sectors, declining 1.54% and 1.18% in their index values.

Graincorp Limited (ASX: GNC) and Lynas Rare Earths Limited (ASX: LYC) are the top gaining stocks, gaining 4.554% and 4.337% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Novonix Limited (ASX: NVX) and Megaport Limited (ASX: MP1) are the top losing stocks and are declining 7.343% and 6.304% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

• Oil prices dropped on worries over fuel demand ahead of a U.S. Federal Reserve meeting which is expected to see the central bank to hike rates by at least 75 basis points to combat inflation.
• Woodside Energy is losing almost 1.4%, Beach energy is down more than 1%, while Santos Limited is edging up 0.25%.
• In the Materials sector, Mineral Resources slipped almost 2%, OZ Minerals by more than 1%. On the other hand, BHP Group and Rio Tinto are gaining almost 0.38% and 0.99%, respectively.
• Dow has closed down by 0.5%, S&P 500 down by 0.4%, and NASDAQ closed higher by 0.2%.
• Hang Seng is up by 0.87%, and FTSE 100 is down by 0.25%.
