ASX 200 lower today  Healthcare and A REIT were the top losers

At AEST 12:03 PM, the benchmark index ASX 200 is trading in the red zone. It has dropped 0.52% to 7,034.50 after setting a new 20-day high. Out of 11 sectors, 9 sectors ended lower. By this time, the energy sector was the top gainer with a marginal growth of 0.55% in the index values. On the other hand, healthcare, A-REIT, and Information technology indices dropped 1.64%, 1.64%, and 1.45%, respectively.

Factors Influencing the market:

  • ASX 200 dropped following a mixed trading session on Wall Street.
  • NASDAQ Composite, NASDAQ-100, and S&P 500 dropped 0.58%, 0.65% and 0.07% respectively.
  • Whitehaven Coal Limited (ASX: WHC) and G.U.D. Holdings Limited (ASX: GUD) were the top gainers, while Domino's Pizza Enterprises Limited (ASX: DMP) and Novonix Limited (ASX: NVX) were the top losers.
  • Big miners like BHP Limited (ASX: BHP) and Fortescue Metal (ASX: FMG) were down this morning, while Rio Tinto (ASX: RIO) shares were up marginally.
  • Gold futures contracted as the data showed the US Producer Price Index dropped 0.5% in July.
