ABS reports 9% fall in the total number of dwellings approved

Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) reported a decline of 9% in the total number of dwellings approved in November 2022 in seasonally adjusted terms, subsequent a 5.6% decline in October 2022. The result was driven by private sector dwellings apart from houses, which declined 22.7%.

Across Australia, total dwelling approvals:

  • New South Wales: Declined 18.4%.
  • Western Australia: Declined 17.5%,
  • Victoria: Declined 12.7%
  • Queensland: Declined 5.6%
  • Tasmania: Increased 75.7%
  • South Australia: Increased 10.0%
