Market Overview: 21 January 2022

By the closure of the market on 21 January 2022, ASX 200 closed sharply, declining 2.27% to 7,175.80 and setting a new 50-day low. Most sectors on ASX settled in the red zone.

ASX 300 Metals and Mining, ASX 200 Resources, and ASX 200 Materials are the top worst performing sectors, dropping 3.794%, 3.666%, and 3.521% respectively.

Factors that influenced market on 21 January 2022:

  • NASDAQ composite dropped 1.3% to 14,154.02.
  • S&P 500 slipped 1.10% to 4482.73.

Top Gainers and Losers:

On ASX 200, Ramelius Resources Limited (ASX: RMS) and Boral Limited (ASX:BLD) were amongst top gainers while Paladin Energy Ltd (ASX:PDN) and Zip Co Limited (ASX:Z1P) were the top two losers on ASX.
