By the end of trading session on 09 February 2022, benchmark index settled at 7268.1, up 1.133% from its previous close. Most indices ended session in the green zone except S&P/ASX 200 Energy, S&P/ASX 200 Materials, S&P/ASX 300 Metals and Mining and S&P/ASX 200 Resources.
S&P/ASX 200 Information Technology was the top gainer for the day. It surged 4.204% and settled at 1752.6. Mining sector was impacted by the weak 1H FY2022 results posted by players like Mineral Resources (ASX:MIN) and Bapcor (ASX:BAP).
Besides, the mining sector was somewhat impacted after China’s state planner warned against the fabricating iron ore prices.
Players from the transportation sector also witnessed a growth in their share price following the update related to the opening of the International borders. Webjet (ASX:WEB), Flight Centre Travel Group (ASX:FLT) and Qantas (ASX:QAN) noted a jump in their respective share prices.
