By the end of the trading session on 28 February 2022, the benchmark index ASX 200 index ended the session in the green zone. Eight of the eleven sectors on ASX ended in the green zone. S&P/ASX 300 Metals and Mining index was up 3.217% and settled at 5807.8. S&P/ASX 200 Materials surged 2.994% and settled at 17311.6.
ASX ended higher despite Western nations ramping up sanctions against Russia during the weekend. Further, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison confirmed that Australia would be sending lethal aid after discussing it with the Defense minister. Australia would work with NATO to provide weapons to Ukraine.
Further, many ASX stocks delivered strong growth in their share price following the release of the recent announcements related to financial results, acquisitions, and many more.
Blackmores Limited (ASX: BKL) and Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals Limited (ASX: CUV) were the top two gainers on ASX, while Life360 Inc (ASX: 360) and Tyro Payments Limited (ASX: TYR) were the top two losers.
